Avon Bat Group

We cover the former Avon County Council area, which now is called "West of England" and includes Bristol City Council, Bath and North East Somerset Council, North Somerset Council and South Gloucestershire Council. Our focus is on bats and their conservation, we are privileged to live in an area where there are at least 15 of the 18 species of UK Bats.

The Avon Bat Group (ABG) is partnered with The Bat Conservation Trust and represents one of over 100 regional interest groups located throughout the UK

All members and committee are volunteers, we have no paid officers or staff, everything is done because people want to. The fact that were are able to help with as many bat walks, appeared at shows, given bat talks to interested people etc etc as we do is a tribute to our members.

Currently we have no licensed trainer for bat licenses. If you would like to come on a bat walk - please see the Calendar.  If you would like an illustrated talk on British bats.  Please email us P.S. We don't travel well, so Avon area only please!  unless it is somewhere really exotic and you are prepared to pay

For more information about Bats - please see the Links to Bat Information page, there is a lot of information on the web
