We cover the former Avon County Council area, which now is called "West of England" and includes Bristol City Council, Bath and North East Somerset Council, North Somerset Council and South Gloucestershire Council. Our focus is on bats and their conservation, we are privileged to live in an area where there are at least 15 of the 17 species of UK Bats.
The Avon Bat Group (ABG) is affiliated with The Bat Conservation Trust and represents one of over 90 regional interest groups located throughout the UK
All members and committee are volunteers, we have no paid officers or staff, everything is done because people want to. The fact that were are able to help with as many bat walks, appeared at shows, given bat talks to interested people etc etc as we did in 2006 is a testiment to our members.
